Cyclone DITWAH Relief and Emergency Response
In 2025, Sri Lanka faced severe weather conditions caused by Cyclone DITWAH, which brought heavy rainfall and widespread flooding to several parts of the country, including Peliyagoda, Kolonnawa, Malabe, Narahenpita, Wattala, and surrounding areas. Entire communities were affected as roads and homes were submerged, leaving both people and animals displaced and vulnerable.
During the Cyclone DITWAH crisis, Embark’s rescue team worked tirelessly on the ground to support flood-affected animals and communities. Our team rescued countless dogs from flooded areas and conducted daily feeding efforts for more than 300 dogs a day, ensuring they received food, safety, and urgent care during the disaster. We also helped rescue trapped and displaced animals while reuniting many pets with their owners.
Despite the harsh conditions and challenges faced throughout the emergency, Embark remained committed to protecting Sri Lanka’s street dogs and providing support where it was needed most.
