The Animal Welfare Bill was approved by Cabinet on 13 January 2016, but a year later it had not yet been enacted by Parliament. After almost a decade of tireless campaigning, and several appeals from animal welfare groups and 30,000 citizens, we called on Parliament to finish what was started.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe to evaluate and pass the new/amended Animal Welfare Bill in Parliament — so that Sri Lanka as a nation has the necessary legislation in place to protect animals from the atrocities they face every day.
